South Meath Dart League PRESENT AND PREVIOUS RULES
  • 1. The committee: to consist of a four person Executive Committee and one
    registered player from each club competing in the league (to be named on the
  • 2. Each team: to consist of 8 players and unlimited substitutes.

  • 3. Players who take part in a match must be registered prior to the match.

  • 4. Publicans Fee: €100 per club/team. Club/team to pay €5 for each registered
    player signed in own handwriting on official registration form and scrutinized by the
    Executive Committee before the start of the league.

  • 5. Games to be of (3) 501 flying start and double finish. Games can also finish with
    Bull.

  • 6. The stand to be not less and 7' 91/4" and the OCHE should be fixed to the floor
    where possible.

  • 7. The teams of 8 players to be named on the Board before start of game. In the
    event of a player being absent when his name is called, a substitute can take his
    place. The first named player cannot then play on that night. Both teams to be
    named on Board by 9.45pm. First game to start at 9.45pm sharp. In the event a
    team does not have a first named player or sub they forfeit that particular match
    and the next game will be called to start in 5 minutes. This format continues
    throughout the game. They away team will have 5-10 minutes exclusively on the
    board if they arrive at the venue on time.

  • 8. Only darts remaining in the board after throw will count.

  • 9. Any postponed or unfulfilled fixtures must be played. If teams involved cannot
    agree within a reasonable period on a re-fixture date then the Executive Committee
    will re-fix the game. Clubs must first request from the league secretary (or an
    Executive Committee member if Secretary unavailable) approval for any
    postponement and should do so in adequate time.

  • 10. In the event of a team being disqualified all points from the games played will
    stand. The remaining games they have to play, the points will go to the opposing
    team. Points given for the games are as follows two points for a win, one for a draw.

  • 11. Club captains to write win or lose after each game on the score card. Players to
    sign score card before each game. Score cards to be returned promptly to the
    Secretary/PRO. A fine of €10 will be imposed on clubs failing to return score cards
    to the Secretary/PRO within 10/12 days of a particular match.

  • 12. Home team to ensure the board is in adequate playing condition and have a
    tyre surround and adequate lighting and also to provide a checker and marker.
    Clubs must have a new boards at the start of the season.        

  • 13. Each team allowed a prompter named on the night of a game in all competitions.

  • 14. Any disputes that arises on night of a game to be referred to following
    committee meeting provided Secretary is notified in writing within 7 days of game.
    Teams being objected to will be notified by Secretary. All objections must be
    accompanied with a fee of €5

  • 15. League to be of two division this season with the top two teams automatically
    going through to the semi-finals. Next four teams to play off. (No. 2 blue  v  No. 3
    red) (No. 2 red  v  No. 3 blue). (Winners of No. 2 blue  v  No. 3 red  to play No. 1
    red) (Winners of No. 2 red v  No. 3 blue  to play No. 1 blue.) The two losers of the
    play-offs to go back into the Knockout Draw. If play-off matches are required to
    determine the top six placings, the play-off matches will consist of nine player teams.

  • 16. The Executive Committee have the authority to decide if the semi-finals and
    final should be the best of (3) x 501.

  • 17. The league will run a Doubles and Singles Championship this season. These
    competitions will be run during the league. A prize will be given for the highest finish
    in a league game officially recorded on the score card. Singles entry €5, Doubles
    entry €10.

  • 18. Committee meetings will finish at 10.30pm. At the end of the roll call any club
    not represented will be deemed as having missed the meeting. Any club that misses
    a league meeting will be fined as follows.  First missed meeting €12, all subsequent
    missed meetings in season to be fined €20. A club will not be disqualified from the
    league for missing two meetings in a row. Pubs in which meetings are held will pay
    €6 for each meeting to league.

  • 19. Prize money to be decided at committee meeting; during second half of the
    league, and league expenses to be discussed.

  • 20. League matches will be played on Monday nights for future seasons.

  • 21. All perpetual cups presented to clubs or individuals must be returned as they
    were received or the clubs involved will be held responsible for the present day
    value of same. The League and Knockout winners cups will be presented on the
    night of the finals.

  • 22. All semi-finals and finals will be held in venues decided on by the executive
    committee on the basis of availability, suitability and location.

  • 23. If play off matches are drawn the replay matches must be played before the
    date specified by the Executive Committee for the final. The replay match will
    consist of nine player teams.

  • 24. The Executive Committee have been given full authority with regard to dates for
    re-fixtures of matches and any other rulings for decisions that they may have to
    make throughout the season.

  • 25. Any club member found guilty of misbehaviour will be subject to a caution,
    suspension or even expulsion from the league as seen fit by the Executive
    Committee.

  • 26. Any team that has missed any two league fixtures will be disqualified.

  • 27. The league will run a club of the year award. Each club will be given a form to
    filled in. A club will score all other clubs out of 10 in a number of different categories
    i.e.Timing, Board, Lighting, Checking and Chalking, Sportsmanship and General.
    The league will deduct from a club's total score; 5 points for late return of scorecard
    and 10 points for a missed meeting. The club with the most points will win the award.

  • 28. Publicans to pay a fee if their premises are selected as venues for finals
    including replays. Fees are; Quarter-Final €35, Semi-Final €65, Final €100.

  • 29. If matches are late starting as indicated by starting time on match card then the
    Executive Committee may fine the club/s concerned €20.00.

  • 30. Any player not previously registered with any other club may register with a club
    up to the half way point in the league. Registration fee €10

  • 31. Any player registered with a club/team may transfer to another club/team up to
    the half way point in the league provided that;(a) The player's current club/team
    agree to the transfer and a transfer form releasing the player is signed by the
    club/team secretary. (b) The player's proposed club agree to the transfer and the
    transfer form requesting the player is signed by the club/team secretary. (c) The
    player's current club/team has not had two transfers out. (d) The player's proposed
    club/team has not has two transfers in. (e) The transfer is approved by the
    Executive Committee. The transfer form to be sent to the league secretary with €10

  • 32. In the event of a dispute over any score on the board, if the game has not been
    finished then the remaining balance scores should be rechecked as far back as
    possible. No alteration to scores obtained should be made. If a player has won a
    game based upon what has been left on the board and no check on the board was
    called prior to the player starting that throw, then the match stands. If a player has
    won a game and has finished a score other than that called by the checker or what
    has been left on the board then the scores should be rechecked to see if the player
    is correct. The board should not be wiped until after a query has been resolved.

  • 33. Any new team requesting membership into the league must be unanimously
    accepted by all existing clubs and the executive committee at the AGM. One vote
    per club present and one vote per executive committee member.

  • 34. No person who has a residence address outside the county of Meath may not
    register for a club unless approved by the executive committee. Exempt will be
    players who have previously registered in the South Meath Darts League.

  • 35. No person who plays or has played darts in another league may register for a
    club unless approved by the executive committee. Exempt will be players who have
    previously registered in the South Meath Darts League.

  • 36. Any player with a residence address outside the county of Meath may not play
    in league playoffs, league finals and knockout competition unless they have played
    at least 50% of the league matches. Exceptions will be those approved by the
    executive committee.

  • 37. In the event of any major dispute or issue, the executive committee can call a
    meeting which will include one nominated delegate from each club where a decision
    will be made by majority rule by the nominated delegates. Delegate to be named on
    the club registration form at start of the season. A second delegate may be named
    but only one may attend the meeting.

  • 38. The decision of two leagues is a one year trial, and neither league is stronger
    than the orther

by midnight of there game. also a fine of €5 if not adhered.

going through to the quarter finals with home advantage .
There will be a draw top 4 in one hat and 5,6,7,8, in the other.
Top teams can only play bottom teams. The four losers of the quarter finals to
go back into the Knockout Draw. If quarter final matches are required to
determine the top eight placings, other than top 4 or bottom 5,6,7,8,
all play-off matches will consist of nine player teams.

15 B. The league will run a Knock out tournament where the very bottom teams
play-off Until we get to four teams. They then join The 4 losers of above
where there is an open draw 1st team out gets home advantage
Until final Which will be held the same day off League final at the early time.

16.   The Executive Committee have the authority to decide if the semi-finals
and final should be the best of (3) x 501. There will be a draw to determine
semi finals and venue committee will decide

17.   The league will run a Doubles and Singles Championship this season.
These competitions will be run during the league. A prize will be given
for the highest finish in a league game officially recorded on the score
card. Singles entry €5, Doubles entry €10.
There to be held on a 1 day event, Winner on the night. in a suitable venue
The suitable venue will be subject to sponsor of running the event
